Animal welfare is of vital importance!
We do not care for ANY form of animal cruelty for any reason including religious, trophy hunting, protection measures, population control.
This doesn’t include killing of animals in the most humane ways possible for food/survival or because its the right thing to do under the circumstances, to avoid suffering for example.
This would also include some animal testing under more stringent and protective rules. Not for simple cosmetics, but possibly for life saving drugs.
We should be stricter world wide on the use of animals for entertainment, but accept at the same time some animals who would not survive in the wild need looking after.
Unfortunately, the cost of this with food, staff, vet bills and enclosures that are large and stimulating cost money.
Where charities are unable to take the full cost, we need to recognise the need for everything on the planet to work for its own survival. Be it hunting like animals do, or how we survive with labour on a daily basis.
I’m sure we would all agree that we would prefer these animals lived, lived well and had to work a little than be left.
Animal cruelty should be prosecuted harshly every time. Maybe even go as far as life imprisonment for the worst cases.
However, I would also caveat this with a caution on the need to discipline of animals!
For example, the founders Golden Retriever dog, Ozzy (pictured above) on the 15th March 2024, left this world after 14 ½ years with the family.
When he was a pup, we had to train him, and this meant at some points making sure he knew who was the alpha of the pack.
Obviously animals do not understand words, but instead need sometimes to be out matched.
This helps relive anxiety of the animals as they understand their place in the pack and don’t feel the requirement to take on responsibilities a natural pack leader might.
The founder once pinned Ozzy to the ground as a show of dominance to have someone say I was being cruel. We completely disagree!
Ozzy’s training, as well as being looked after by a qualified dog trainer, created loyalty and obedience that allowed him freedoms off leads seldom seen with dogs.
He was so good, people suggested we put him on Britain’s got talent.
He had a great life! Was always at the heart of family decisions and was never left anywhere without close family.
