Nobody wants to abort a child! They would rather they hadn’t got pregnant in the first place.
All the emphasis on this subject needs to be aimed at women not getting pregnant. Negating the need for any abortions to happen.

However, mistakes happen and you also have the rare case of no fault pregnancy in circumstances such as rape.
Having a child has a major impact on a woman’s life. (Just to be clear here, only women can get pregnant) Emotionally, financially, physically and especially for the young mothers, time in youth that can never be redeemed.

The Divergent party would not make abortion illegal. We stand on the my body, my choice side of the argument.
We would also ensure that contraception is free to anyone who needs it.

Ben Shapiro makes a fantastic argument for life to be given special protection in while inside the woman. We also believe the the timeframe for abortion needs to be reduced in order to ensure no unborn child suffers in the womb.

But we also recognise that a life that is not yet self sufficient, belongs to the mother it depends on until it no longer needs that mother to live.

Unfortunately, it is also true that many babies that are born go into care paid for by the state. This would be an additional burden on the state finances that if out of hand, the state would simply be unable to afford, or the high level of care and attention needed to bring a child into this world in the right way, with love care and affection would simply be unachievable. The outcome of which could be even more detestable than abortion itself.

During this argument we have not really considered the men in the picture. If a woman is able to decide, can a man?
If a man wants an abortion and the women doesn’t, can he opt out of payments and the responsibility?
If a woman wants an abortion and the man doesn’t, has he just to deal with the decision.?

We would like to think the man considers the woman’s position on this, the final one.
And it needs to be taught to men that they bare responsibility for their actions.

The female has the consequence, therefore she has the decision.
Also, the woman’s life always comes before the unborn child.
We also accept that in rare circumstances, for example a child that wont live past a few days or even hours, is also viable for abortion.

In summary:
Her body, her choice!
